Backpack Buddies

Gladstone’s Backpack Buddies program serves 100 low-income families with children in Gladstone Schools & Head Start programs. Each week during the school year, families receive a bag full of nutritious foods for their child to bring home from school. If you need this support for your family, please contact your school counselor.

Here is a short video about this award-winning program:

Students in the Gladstone High Vocational Skills class help each week to inventory supplies, load food bags, and sort donations. This provides them with job skills and life skills.

Backpack Buddies is supported with donations from a coalition of community partners including:
•  Gladstone Public Library
•  Gladstone/Oak Lodge Rotary
•  Gladstone Ministerial Association
•  The Table Church
•  Bob’s Red Mill
•  Dave’s Killer Bread
•  Gladstone Schools

If you would like to join the Backpack Buddies Coalition, please contact Lennie Bjornsen at 503.780.2658.
