Safety & Security

Dear Gladstone Families,

The increasing frequency of violent acts across our nation caused us to expand the systems we use to keep students safe in school. Your children are precious, and I want you to know we will do all in our power to protect them.

Prevention is our goal, and it hinges on a wide array of strategies, from encouraging community members to report potential threats to providing students with access to mental health services.

One new strategy is our School Threat Assessment Team. This group moves quickly through an in-depth evaluation of potential threats in collaboration with the Gladstone Police, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Human Services and the County Juvenile Department. I invite you to explore our flow chart explaining this process and our other safety protocols on the Safety section of our website.

From our new buzz-in entry system to the Safe Oregon tip-line, we are better prepared to detect threats and prevent violence than ever before. If you have any questions about school safety, feel free to contact me via email.

Sincerely,

Jeremiah Patterson
Superintendent
