Kraxberger students tour Egypt

Kraxberger Middle School seventh graders on Feb. 6 participated in their second live virtual tour of the Luxor Temple in Egypt. Their first tour on Jan. 23 was of Queen Neferarti's Tomb (wife of Ramses II) and the Tombs of Ramses I and King Tut.

In December 2020, Kraxberger's social studies teacher Amy Otto organized the first ancient Egypt tours for all seventh and eighth graders.

Otto planned the live virtual tour for Gladstone middle schoolers with Egyptologist George Farah, her tour guide during a 2015 tour of upper Egypt. Farah, a Luxor Valley native and an archeologist, has been a professional tour guide for 17 years.

"He has committed to doing these in the future as a staple to our ancient Egypt unit," Otto said.
