To celebrate the start of the school year, the Gladstone School District honored a total of six staff members who won Thank a Teacher or Making a Difference awards at our staff's Welcome Back event on Aug. 27. To recognize their outstanding contributions to our community, each of these staff members received $250 from a Gladstone Education Foundation endowment.
Thank a Teacher Award winner Deborah Powell of Kraxberger Middle School is incredibly gifted at understanding how students learn, which allows her to have well-thought-out lesson plans that are differentiated for her unique students.
A calm presence within the building, Powell is an advocate for students who typically struggle with school and classroom settings. She has a driving belief to support all students, both in her classroom, and while supporting students in general education classes.
Powell is a team player and a problem solver. She is dedicated to the school and her students. She builds the confidence of students and helps them thrive and find their voices. We are fortunate to have her at Kraxberger.
