Ryan Browning’s class on the history and culture of food recently made shakshuka and pita bread in our kitchen classroom at Gladstone High School.
Shakshuka is an Israeli and Middle Eastern dish (reminiscent of a breakfast burrito) in which eggs, veggies and spices are wrapped in the pita. This popular class is learning about different cultural cuisines each week around the world.
At the end of the school year, there will be an Iron Chef-style challenge when students will be judged on their final project.
