mask making

This year we received a South Metro Salem Partnership grant to cover a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math Night where students and parents decorated paper mâché masks on April 16.

Families were instructed in techniques for decorating the masks to represent coding concepts, or family heritage/ancestry.

Teachers and classified support staff learned some simple dance steps to teach to families before we dimmed the lights for a five-minute group performance.

The evening included a free family dinner and prizes. After mask making, Rainbow Dance Theater Artistic Director Darryl Thomas, who is also a dance professor at Western Oregon University, led students and parents in a dance party to show off their masks.
