Gladstone High School sophomore Lilly Zuber dominated the Oregon High School Equestrian Teams State Championships from May 9-12 at the Deschutes County Expo in Redmond.
Zuber won the competition for timed events, where she outmaneuvered her competition by guiding her horse quickly through various courses. She expressed gratitude to her 16-year-old Quarter Horse named Brook for seeing her through both successes and difficult circumstances.
“It’s calming being around my horse, and it always makes me happy, so I just keep doing it and doing my best to excel at rodeos and at school,” Zuber said.
Zuber thanked her family, GHS classmates and school staff for supporting her continued passion for horsemanship.
