John Wetten Elementary’s fifth-grade leadership team, Student Advocates for Equity (SAFE), is working on their end-of-year project to share with all JWE students. SAFE members wanted to focus on anti-bullying and chose to make a short film.
The script was written in its entirety by fifth grader Isabella Gil, who constructed a meaningful story that focuses on the experiences of marginalized students in a school setting. The project was imagined, created and designed by the students in SAFE.
"Anti-bullying is important to me, because people shouldn't be bullied because of their skin color or the way they look," said fifth grader Evelyn Reyes, a SAFE member.
