Our sixth graders are having a great time at Outdoor School this week.
First launched in Oregon in 1957, this field science program provides an opportunity for students to learn about soil, water, plants and animals, as well as natural sciences specific to the local community and economy.
Students have headed to Twin Rocks Friends Camp for most of the program's 44-year history in Gladstone. Kraxberger students tackle field studies on beavers, shark dissection, environmental footprints, plants, survival skills, community building and tide pool creatures. After field studies, there's also time for recreation activities and making more amazing memories.
Mentors during this immersive outdoor science program included Kraxberger Middle School staff, Gladstone High School students, and Twin Rocks staff and volunteers.
