Congratulations to Gladstone High School teacher Anna Heuberger!

On May 18 at the 39th annual Oregon Athletic Coaches Association Awards Banquet, our Head Girls Soccer Coach Anna Heuberger (pictured second from right in this year's team photo with assistant coaches Tobin Nelson and Justin Holmes) was recognized as the 2022-23 National Federation of State High School Associations Oregon Girls Soccer Coach of the Year.

Our team went 8-2 in the league this year, and made it to the quarterfinal game of the state championship. We started six freshmen, and only two seniors are graduating from the team, so the future is bright for Gladstone girls soccer.

GHS girls soccer teammates this month were also recognized by the Oregon School Activities Association for having the state's greatest Legendary Tradition.

To compete in the Tri-Valley Conference, it requires some long bus rides. To make traveling to league games fun, Gladstone's soccer team participates in “secret sisters.” Randomly selected before each long ride, each player has a secret sister/teammate who provides them with snacks, personal notes and small gifts that represent that athlete. This helps the team bond and get to know one another better.

Anyone online can vote on which school has the best tradition, and GHS was voted this month's best. For having created the state's winning tradition, GHS girls soccer received an $150 Abby’s Legendary Pizza gift card.
