hosts childhood developme

Gladstone Center for Children & Families is home to a wide range of wraparound services — medical, dental and behavioral health clinics, the Gladstone School District's kindergarten program, Head Start, Gladstone Teaching Preschool, Lifeworks NW, Oregon Department of Human Services and Clackamas Education Service District offices. All of our partners located under one roof benefitted from joint professional development sessions last month as part of our commitment to shared values.

Dr. Amy King worked with all GCCF staff to help educators and clinicians better understand how family trauma affects early childhood development. A licensed psychologist, King specializes in teaching how to help students build their resilience to decrease the effects of trauma. Her debut book, published last year by the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a blueprint for pediatricians responding to adverse childhood experiences and creating trauma-informed care.

Thank you to Health Share of Oregon for the grant funding to support this behavioral health training.
